They approached the willow that looked like it didn’t belong. When the golden Eye broke through the rim of the world and sent its rays racing over the flowing green, the draping eaves shimmered.

“Too beautiful.” Liz found herself stunned again, as when she arrived.

Though the breeze was soft, approaching it, she could have sworn she saw the thick branches dance at the touch of dawn. It was like bright maned cavalry was thundering beneath them. Liz found herself briefly understanding that very description of morning her mother had given her once- from her one time on the road with Douglas.

Liz blinked and noticed she had kept walking while Douglas had stopped outside the tree’s curtain of foliage. She looked back. He twitched his head in a way that she belatedly realized was a nudging forward. An embarrassed motion, followed by an awkward turning around.

With her brow furrowed, Liz pulled back the leafy shroud. Just when she felt a creeping sensation that she was unceremoniously peering beneath the gown of an ancient but peerless woman, she suddenly found there was a naked one before her.

A beauty looked her over with unaccounted for maternity. Then…
